Curriculum Development

I believe that good teachers are also good material and curriculum developers. During my teaching career, I have been given the opportunity to develop a number of literature courses. This portfolio will show my skills and achievements developing a fourth/fifth grade reading and conversation club for Korean students. For this course, students completed a needs analysis survey, which I created. I used the results to design a course and select materials for the students based on their needs and wants. Next, as an EFL teacher at an American international school in Seoul, I was given the chance to work with a team of EFL teachers to administer school-wide proficiency testing. We used the WIDA Model, a 4-skills language proficiency assessment, to develop a new EFL program at my school. From the results, we created program admissions guidelines and standards and benchmarks for the classes.
